Studer Communication module Xcom-232i, is equipped with a serial port RS-232, that enables the tracking of the state of a system consisting of one or several Xtenders, VarioTracks or VarioStrings. Which then makes it possible to read all data that can be displayed on the remote control basic screen and also to modify the configuration parameters. An Xtender, VarioTrack or VarioString system can therefore be connected to various SCADA control and supervision devices (PC, programmable logic controller, and microcontroller).
From a more technical point of view, the electrical interface RS-232 allows for instant data transmission with GSM modems, RS-232 bridges to TCP/IP or also with long distance converters RS-422. The port is protectred by a means of galvanic isolation, in order to secure a total electrical separation between the Xtender, VarioTrack or VarioString system and the control and supervision device.
The proprietary and fully documented protocol is available in the Downloads section under the heading “Software and Updates”.
The Studer Communication module Xcom-232i also has a function for data recording and analysing (Data logger function).
Data Logger and analysis Function:
The Data logger function, integrated in the remote control RCC-02/-03, records and analyzes the Xtender system’s data. The main electrical values are saved on the SD card in the remote control.
The Data logging function applies to all Xtender models. For the remote control with a version earlier than the 1.3.26, the latest software version can be downloaded from the Studer website to update of the remote control.
These standards enable the follow up on the system’s energy consumption evolution, to check the power cuts, the state of the auxiliary contacts, the input currents and voltages, etc…
Moreover, attached to this function, Studer Innotec offers a free analysis tool (Xtender Data Analysis Tool) in the form of a file type Microsoft® Excel® 2007; allowing all recorded data to be collected and to display them graphically. The data is then easy to read and understand at a glance.
If you have no serial port RS-232, there is a version with CAN bus.
