The Fox Peak Ski Club sought solar power for their on-mountain accommodation and sites below the base area at 900m elevation. The lodge has a 40-person capacity with five bunkrooms. There are two hot water showers, a washroom, a drying room, a large heated common/dining room and a kitchen with gas appliances for cooking. There are four toilets and an outdoor gas BBQ.
Previously, they were powered solely by a generator.
We specified and supplied the following:
- 455W PERC Half Cell Silver x 2
- 100W PERC x 2
- Tracer BN 40A 4215 MPPT x2
- Tracer AN 10A
- Antai Black Adjustable End Clamp x12
- Antai Feet Foot Adjustable x5
- Antai Leg Rear x 5
- Antai Mid Clamp x 2
- Antai Black Rail x 3
Given the snowy conditions of the site, solar panels were installed on the roof and also on the side of the hut, where snow would fall off the solar panels. They already had 16 x 120AH AGM batteries, providing around 10kWh of battery storage and a backup generator.
“Everything is working well, and the size of the PV system appears well match with the demands. Wintertime is always a pinch, but the generator wasn’t required.” John Evans
