- Uninterrupted Power Supply (UPS) stores grid electricity for emergency power use during an outage.
- Grid-tied systems are the most cost-effective to install, utilising solar to support daytime energy needs with excess power sent back to the grid.
- Hybrid systems store excess power in batteries for later use and provide emergency power backup during power outages.
- Off-grid eradicates your power bill and is designed to provide a continuous power source. Still, there is a significant up-front cost, and it is best suited for farms and businesses in areas without access to a grid power supply.

Where does my export go?
Any excess power that is not consumed by the site is exported. It is measured and credited as an export tariff on your next power bill. The rate will depend on your retailer.
Will I have power if the grid goes down?
Your system will shut down if the inverter is set up with a grid-tied inverter. This is a safety mechanism in case linesmen come to work on the network.
If you have a hybrid system with battery backup, your inverter will isolate you from the grid, supplying you with whatever your batteries hold and solar production provides.
Do I pay tax on the money I save?
No, you don’t! It comes off the bottom line of your power bill and stays in the business's pocket.
Can I claim depreciation on my panels as an asset?
Yes, you can. Not only is it a tax-deductible asset, but you can claim 16% depreciation*.

How much will a solar system cost?
The solar system cost will depend on your power loads, the split between daytime and evening power needs and how much backup power you are looking for. Our solar engineers will undertake an in-depth needs assessment and provide a detailed quote.

AA Solar is agnostic and will source the best products for your needs. However, after over 30 years of specifying and installing commercial solar systems, our recommendations are based on rigorous testing and field performance.
What is the average payback for a commercial solar system?
Payback can vary markedly; a UPS system can pay for itself after the first outage, whereas when payback is based purely on power savings, it may take up to seven years.
What support do you provide post-installation?
Our local team are always on hand to provide support over the phone and in person, and through our system monitoring, we are likely to know of a problem before you do.
